Add a brick background to photo

There's nothing quite like a classic brick wall for a background. It's what actors use in their professional headshots and for good reason: It's simple and clean, so all the focus is on the person in the photo.

The problem is, finding a good, clean brick wall is tough. They are usually falling down, breaking, covered in rude graffiti, or dirty with moss and plants. The nice ones tend to be someone's house and you can't exactly knock on their front door and ask to do a photoshoot in front of their home.

I mean, you could do that, but it's not ideal!

Here's the good news: Getting that classic brick background is now easier than ever. You just need to use Facetune to fake it!

Here's our step-by-step guide to getting a great brick wall background for your selfies.

Step 1: Pick your favorite selfie and open it in Facetune.

Step 2: Head to the Backdrop function on the main menu bar. In the second Backdrop menu, make sure the Backdrop option is automatically selected. You’ll see a second bar pop up with lots of cool backdrop designs.

Step 3: Scroll through the many options until you see the plain white brick wall. You can scroll further until you see the classic red brick wall background as well. You can even mix it up and choose one of the graffiti options for a more fun look.

Step 4: Once you've chosen the wall you want to use, head to the Fix function. Here you can tidy up the edges using the paintbrush or eraser options to choose where you want to see the wall and where you want to see the original background.

Step 5: Then go to the Adjust feature to fix the lighting or shadows, and blend the background into the foreground. This will give a more natural look so it will seem like you really took the photo in front of a brick wall, rather than using a green screen.

Step 6: Use the checkmark to save your edits, and go back to the main menu. If you still want to adjust the lighting for a more natural look, you can add a filter from the Filter menu or use the tools in the Edit menu to adjust the lighting even more.

A classic brick background is ideal for professional headshots, but it's also great if you want to really show off your makeup or a cute OOTD. Now, just snap a photo where the lighting is good and you can think about adding a cool background later on — nailing it every single time.
